Sixth Form Support
As the Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for the Sixth Form, Mrs Doran is supported by Mr Blight (Head of KS5), Mr Jennings (Head of KS4), and Mrs Lingham (Sixth Form Administrator). Each member of the Sixth Form team is available to discuss any concerns a student or his/her parent(s) may have regarding academic progress or emotional wellbeing. Whether the problem originates inside or outside the classroom, they will treat the matter with tact and confidentiality. If they aren’t in a position themselves to help, they will make sure you find someone who can.
The Sixth form Team can usually be found in the Sixth Form centre from 8.30-2.30pm every day. There is an open door policy, unless the respective member of staff is otherwise occupied; if they can’t see you immediately, they will do so as soon as possible.
We understand and celebrate the fact that students build strong relationships with house staff throughout their earlier school careers. Every member of staff responsible for your pastoral care in KS3 and KS4 will continue to be available to you during your time in Sixth Form. However, we want to reassure students that new relationships will develop across the Sixth Form support network. The KS4 and Sixth Form offices stay closely in touch to ensure that the best possible support is maintained.
The team is available to give advice and support on a wide range of issues, from A-level options and university/career decisions, to tips on securing funding and developing employability skills. The Sixth Form team has links with many outside agencies and universities to ensure that we fill any gaps in our own areas of expertise. We aspire to giving students the highest standards of care and guidance.
