Year 7 literacy and numeracy catch-up premium
The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives schools additional funding to support year 7 pupils who did not achieve the expected standard in reading or maths at the end of Key Stage 2. All state-funded schools with year 7 pupils receive this funding of £500 per year.
Funding for Financial Year 2016-17
In 2016 to 2017 schools will receive the same overall amount of year 7 catch-up premium funding they received in 2015 to 2016, adjusted to reflect the percentage change in the size of their year 7 cohort, based on the October 2016 census.
Eligible students at Fort Pitt
In 2015/16, one student at Fort Pitt was eligible for this funding based on her KS2 Maths level, where she just missed Level 4. The fund was used to provide intensive one-to-one tuition and as a result, she has made excellent progress and is now above average in the subject.
In 2016/17, we have one student who is eligible for this funding based on her KS2 score primarily in Maths. We have invested in both one to one tuition and in IT intervention software for this student who is showing a positive impact in terms of progress and attainment evidenced through rigorous testing.
