Fort Pitt is a selective girls’ grammar school with over 1,000 students aged 11-18. It has no particular religious affiliation.
Every September approximately 120 girls are admitted to Year 7 on the basis of a selection procedure. Late entry to Years 7–9 is determined by local authority and school assessment; entry to Years 10-11 by school assessment alone (please telephone to arrange an appointment); and entry to the sixth form on the basis of GCSE results.
If you would like to apply for a place for your daughter in Year 7, please visit us on one of our open mornings and/or evenings. It will also be necessary to enter her for the relevant selection tests, following advice from her primary school.
Appeals timetable information for entry to Year 7 – Academic Year 2017/18
1 March 2017 – National Offer Day
29 March 2017 – Places must be accepted/refused by returning the relevant form to the school office.
This is also the date by which an appeal must be submitted, should you wish to query the decision not to offer your daughter a place. Dates for Year 7 appeals will be held during May 2017 and will be announced nearer the time.
11 May 2017 - Statement of Case Meeting. A Meeting for the appeal Panel to consider the case made by Fort Pitt Grammar School and its Governors, that prejudice would apply if additional pupils were admitted.

On submitting your appeal, please advise us if any of the dates are unsuitable as it may not be possible to change the timetable at a later date. A letter will be sent to you with the date and time, together with information about the process.
