Enrichment Visit to Chatham Dockyard

On Tuesday 9 May, Year 8 were fortunate to have a dry day to visit various attractions at Chatham Historic Dockyard. The whole of Year 8 took part in a variety of activities to support their studies in the Maths, Science and History curricula. Students were shown around the new exhibit, Command of the Oceans, which was amazing; at times you really felt you were back in the distant past, watching people plan, design and build amazing wooden ships. They also explored HM Submarine Ocelot and saw other historic ships, before visiting the Ropery, which is the only RN rope yard still in operation, before making some rope themselves. Two other activities involved physics and chemistry to make and design rockets and fire mini cannon balls. It was an excellent day and is thoroughly recommended if you are looking for an interesting day out with the family.
