Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education
PSHE Education lessons help young people embrace change, feel positive about who they are and enjoy healthy, safe, responsible and fulfilled lives. Students are able to recognise and manage risk, take increasing responsibility for themselves, their choices and behaviours and make positive contributions.
Students explore similarities and differences; discuss social and moral dilemmas; learn to deal with challenges and accommodate diversity in all forms. The PSHE Education course enables students to reflect on and clarify attitudes; identify and articulate feelings and emotions; form and maintain relationships.
Students are encouraged to challenge stereotyping, discrimination and other cultural and social barriers.
The PSHE Education course enables students to learn to be enterprising; create and implement new ideas; develop a ‘Can Do’ attitude.
PSHE is a popular subject, students are able to engage in lively discussions and are able to express their opinions on a variety of topical and sensitive issues. Students develop ‘life skills’ and they can reflect on and evaluate their achievements and strengths in all areas of their lives and recognise their own worth. Examinations are not taken in this subject.
Enrichment
A lunchtime Board Games Club is on offer to all students. This encourages teamwork and cooperation skills. It is also a chance to relax and have fun with friends and also to meet new students across the vertical year groups.

trips and events
All Key Stage 3 students were given the opportunity to attend a Trip to Kidzania. The trip gave students the confidence to challenge themselves and inspire them to explore the world of opportunities. The KidZania trip was real life role play experience, blending learning and reality with entertainment.
Year 8 students attended a trip to the Brooke Theatre for a play on relationships and the dangers of exploitation. This was followed by a visit to Chatham library, the very successful trip ended with a social opportunity and a light lunch at the Command House.
The PSHEE department invites many outside speakers from charities and organisations into lessons. Some examples are: Teenage Cancer Trust; Kent Fire & Rescue; KCA Alcohol & Drug awareness; Mind Charity; local banking groups.
